Withdraw the Draft Law on the NSA – Create Space for Public and Expert Debate

Non-governmental organizations – Human Rights Action (HRA), Centre for Civic Education (CCE), and Women’s Rights Centre (WRC) have once again urged the Prime Minister to withdraw the Draft Law on the National Security Agency (NSA) from parliamentary procedure and to open space for public and expert consultation ahead of the autumn session of Parliament.

We emphasize that this law poses an extreme risk to the human rights of citizens and, as such, requires proper alignment with international human rights treaties binding upon Montenegro.

The general interest of ensuring citizens’ security without infringing on their rights calls for international expert assessments on the protection of privacy from state security services.

The full letter sent to the Prime Minister and the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defence is available at the following link.
