Centre for Civic Education (CCE) and Association of Citizens Cultural Front announce a call for the first generation of participants in the regional school The 1990s in Yugoslavia – New Sources and Methodologies.
This programme is designed as part of informal and supplementary education for 25 participants from the region. Through an interdisciplinary approach that includes lectures, discussions, work with archive sources, analysis of oral histories, examination of museum artifacts, site-based learning at locations of suffering, film screenings, and more – participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the socio-political context of the breakup of Yugoslavia and the scientifically established facts about the conflicts and war crimes of the 1990s.
Participants will also be introduced to the latest research findings on the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, and the programme will include various thematic evening sessions.
The lectures will be led by professors from the University of Belgrade and the University of Montenegro, researchers from scientific institutes in the region, as well as experts in museology, cultural heritage, and film, among whom are also Dubravka Stojanović, Adnan Prekić, Milivoj Bešlin, etc.
Who can apply?
The Regional School is a four-day programme intended for postgraduate students in history and other departments at the faculties of philosophy, political sciences, journalism, and related fields, as well as the younger generation of journalists, researchers, and activists from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Slovenia. Preference will be given to those demonstrating a high level of social activism in governmental, non-governmental, political, trade union, media, economic, scientific, and cultural contexts, as well as interest for researching history and memory on 1990s in Yugoslavia.

Logistics:
The Regional School will be held in Budva from 4 to 8 October 2024. The organizers will cover travel expenses (by bus or train) and accommodation on a full board basis.
