Stories of missing persons are often suppressed and forgotten, even though they leave deep and lasting scars on families and society. Confronting these painful stories and fostering empathy are important steps in the process of dealing with the past, which is why the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) is organizing the performance of FATHER AND FATHER on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, at 20:00, at the Studio Scene of the Montenegrin National Theatre (MNT).
The play FATHER AND FATHER, written by contemporary playwright Jeton Neziraj, directed by Kushtrim Koliqi, and produced by Integra from Pristina, serves as a reminder of the losses and more than 1,600 missing persons after the war in Kosovo, as well as the consequences this leaves on their loved ones.
Through a captivating interplay of perspectives- those of the missing and those they left behind – this play brings to life the challenges of a seemingly ordinary family. From an initial depiction of the everyday struggles of Dini, who lives with his wife Sara and daughter Lola, we are gradually drawn into a heart-wrenching story of deep social trauma – a wound that remains unhealed, trapping the characters in a perpetual state of uncertainty and pain.
The roles are played by Ilire Vinca, Bujar Ahmeti and Kosovare Krasniqi.
The play is performed in Albanian, with Montenegrin subtitles provided.
The number of seats is limited, and free tickets can be collected at the MNT box office.
This performance is organized as part of the CCE project “Education for the Future – Transitional Justice for Reconciliation”. This activity is made possible through the regional EU Support for Confidence-Building in the Western Balkans Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP.
