Željka Zvicer, Programme Associate

Željka Zvicer holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Montenegro, where she is currently completing her master’s studies. She has enhanced knowledge through numerous trainings in media and information literacy, including the Media Literacy Forum of the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) and various UN programmes on these topics. During studies, she was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), and also attended the KAS European Academy in Otzenhausen (Germany). She served as the PR Coordinator of the Montenegrin Association of Political Science Students (MAPSS) and was a member of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS). She received the Faculty of Political Science Award for outstanding academic achievement. As part of the UNDP Next Generation initiative, she worked on developing youth policies, gender equality and social cohesion. Also, she collaborated with UNICEF and the Faculty of Political Science on research within the campaign “Let’s Choose What We Watch”, mentoring a team of young reporters. She began journalism career as an intern at the radio station and online portal Antena M, later joining the daily newspaper Pobjeda, where she covered political affairs in Montenegro. Furthermore, she continued professional engagement at Al Jazeera Balkans (AJB), reporting on current national events with a particular focus on human rights. She received the Young Journalist of the Year Award from the Association of Journalists of Montenegro. Additionally, she participated in the international conference of the Regional Women’s Lobby for Southeast Europe, where, as a journalist from Montenegro, she spoke about the role of the media in promoting gender equality and peace. She is the author of the publications “Montenegrin Journalism in the Contemporary Era of Fordism” and “Case: Lists – Where Is the Line Between the Public’s Right to Know and the Right to Privacy?” Fluent in English, with working knowledge of Italian and Spanish.
