Following the official opening in Podgorica, FAST FORWARD Human Rights Film Festival will be opened in Kotor, in cinema “Boka”, on 11 December, Sunday, with the screening of documentary “Free”, by Tomislav Žaja. This edition will be opened by Daliborka Uljarević, executive director of CCE, Miloš Dževerdanović, director of Cultural centre “Nikola Đurković” and Paula Petričević, coordinator of FAST FORWARD Festival in Kotor.
“Free” is a documentary which follows its characters throughout the period of two years. Movie plot starts by showing us several institutions which we see, but also feel, how it looks like to be isolated and deprived of any right, privacy or decision-making possibility with regards to one’s life. To be free is the dream of all people who live in those institutions. After the departure from the institution, we witness their change. We look at the main actors who try to fulfil their dreams, but this time around, from their own perspective. Precisely because of that perspective we begin to ponder about our own lives, our freedom and society – the same society which deprived these people of decades of their lives. This film, which was produced in 2016, already participated on almost 30 festivals, and won six awards for best documentary feature, among other, on festivals Hong Kong Arthouse Film Festival 2016, Top Indie Film Awards 2016, Liburnia Film Festival 2016, Venice Film Week 2016, Martinique International Film Festival 2016 and Somerville International Film Festival 2016.
