The regional premiere of the feature-length documentary film Mamula All Inclusive, by Aleksandar Reljić, will be held at the Sarajevo Film Festival 2023, on Saturday, 12 August, at 14h00, in Cineplexx (Hall 2), as part of the Facing the Past programme.
The documentary Mamula All Inclusive was realized with the financial support of the Film Centre of Serbia, and was produced by Greenfield Production and co-produced by Al Jazeera Balkans, as well as minority producers Core Dox and the Centre for Civic Education (CCE). Additionally, the very idea of the film was presented at the Sarajevo Film Festival, within the True Stories Market, in 2017, by the CCE’s representatives.
The film was made for almost seven years, and year after year, from September 2017 to September 2022, the transformation of the island of Lastavica and the fortress of Mamula, located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, from a former concentration camp to a modern hotel complex was filmed. In addition, the transformation of public opinion about this project was monitored, from the point of view of imprisoner Ivo Marković, who spent nine years in that camp under the command of the Italian fascists of Benito Mussolini.
“The idea of the film was to show that in today’s world, only money is important, which wipes out everything in front of it, including the suffering of human victims,” said Aleksandar Reljić, the author of the film.
In 2015, the Parliament of Montenegro decided to give the Mamula fortress to the Swiss-Egyptian company ORASCOM, in a concession for 49 years, and to build a “hotel spa resort with a museum space” on that place.
“For this reason, the film was named Mamula All Inclusive”, said Reljić.
After the regional premiere, the author Aleksadar Reljić, Dragan Gmizić, the main producer and Daliborka Uljarević, in front of CCE as a minority producer, will be taking part in the Q&A session with the audience at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
The Montenegrin premiere of the documentary film Mamula All Inclusive will be organized as part of the FAST FORWARD Montenegrin Human Rights Film Festival 2023, organized by the CCE, which traditionally begins on 10 December. In addition to the central programme in Podgorica, FAST FORWARD Festival has its shortened editions in Kotor and Berane, where the film Mamula All Inclusive will also be screened.
