Interculturalism is the key to shaping harmonious communities where different cultures not only coexist but also enrich one another. Such discussions contribute not only to building mutual trust but also to strengthening social cohesion, which is vitall for the stability and prosperity of society. This was one of the messages from the public forum on interculturalism organized today by the Centre for Civic Education (CCE) at the Bijelo Polje Municipality.
Through open communication and the exchange of experiences, various sensitive issues were discussed, which shape social dynamics, tolerance or intolerance, and social distances, as well as the impact these have on the local community.
“In times when we are globally facing numerous challenges and polarizations, it is important to jointly preserve space for dialogue, cooperation, and contributing to the common good,” said Tufik Bojadžić, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, who was one of the panelists.
“I am very pleased that this forum attracted a diverse group of people from different generations, with the most interest shown by the youngest participants. This shows that these topics are far from resolved and that we need to talk about them more, with the hope that it will lead to better mutual understanding,” said Andro Martinović, a director and one of the panelists.
“Events like this are necessary for our town so that we can continue to strengthen and preserve the values we cherish. We are glad that at this forum in Bijelo Polje, we highlighted examples of good relationships, which encourages further work in this area,” emphasized Ena Pušija from the NGO Multimedial Montenegro, who participated in the forum.
The forum was organized as part of the project Harmony in Diversity, which the CCE is implementing with the support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
