Fighting Corruption in Local Enterprises

As part of the project Partnership Against Corrupt Tendencies – PACT, financially supported by the U.S. Embassy and the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), the Centre for Civic Education (CGO) signed an agreement today with the Centre for Economic and European Studies (CEES) to support the project Improved Criteria for the Selection of Board Members to Reduce Corruption Risks.

This project focuses on analyzing the criteria for selecting board members of public enterprises, with recommendations to enhance these criteria to address corruption in this significant yet often underestimated area.

With this, we aim to contribute to efforts to reduce corruption risks in corporate governance, leading to better business outcomes for municipal enterprises. The project is designed to promote transparency as one of the principles of good governance, which is a key element of the EU integration process. At the same time, this is one of many CEES initiatives aimed at supporting local economic development,” explained Nenad Vujošević, Executive Director of CEES.

The Partnership Against Corrupt Tendencies – PACT project, which provides support to this organization, aims to contribute to functional rule of law and increased government accountability in Montenegro by addressing corruption across five sectors: education, healthcare, local governance, security, and the judiciary.
