Premiere of film “Neruda”, starting at 20h30, in Montenegrin National Theatre (MNT) will mark the closing of VII FAST FORWARD Human Rights Film Festival 2016.
Chilean candidate for Oscar in the category of best foreign movie, as well as the candidate for best foreign movie for this years’ “Golden globe” is the story of best known Chilean poet, diplomat and Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda, in the interpretation of Luis Gnecco, who is the central figure of this film, which premiered six months ago in Cannes.
In the words of its director, this anti-biography piece is placed in 1948, where Senator Neruda, due to his sharp public opposition to then president Gabriel González Videla, becomes the state enemy for the first time. Under the pressure of constant threats and battue of governing regime, Neruda flees from the country with the help of his friend Pablo Picasso and left-winged underground, leaves his home in exile with his wife, Argentinian painter Delia Del Carril, with the police officer Oscar Peluchoneau who is constantly one step behind.

FAST FORWARD Human Rights Film Festival 2016 was traditionally opened on the occasion of International Day of Human Rights. Festival also awarded organisations and individuals for the affirmation of human rights and civic activism, namely to NGO Young Roma and Željki Vuksanović, president of municipality of Kolašin. During these five days, FAST FORWARD 2016 premiered 12 films focused on human rights. The Festival also had parallel editions in Kotor and Berane, which screened four films each. During previous six editions of Festival, audience from Podgorica had the opportunity to watch nearly 80 accomplishments addressing human rights in an engaged manner.
VII FAST FORWARD Human Rights Film Festival 2016 was held from 10 to 14 December 2016 in Podgorica, in Montenegrin National Theatre (MNT), while its parallel editions were held in Kotor – 11 and 12 December in cinema “Boka” and in Berane – 12 and 13 December in Centre for culture.
FAST FORWARD 2016 is implemented in cooperation with Montenegrin National Theatre (MNT), BELDOCS, Cultural Centre “Nikola Đurković” from Kotor, Municipality of Berane and Centre for culture of Berane. Media sponsors of FAST FORWARD 2016 are public broadcaster RTCG and ID Vijesti. Festival is supported by the Commission for the allocation of part of the revenue from games of chance of Government of Montenegro, Australian Embassy, US Embassy, Foundation Heinrich Boll, as well as by companies Montepano, Metropolis, PG Taxi, Post of Montenegro and Compania de Vinos Montenegro. Entrance to all screenings is free.
