for online seminar for history teachers and teachers of a social group of subjects, history educators and researchers on the issue of learning and teaching sensitive historical issues

Centre for Civic Education (CCE) invites all interested teachers of history and social science subjects, history educators and researches to apply for online seminar learning and teaching sensitive historical issues.

Teaching, learning and presenting controversial and sensitive issues, primarily those from the recent past that still burden our society and societies of the region, represent a challenge for every history educator. Therefore, this programme aims to strengthening the capacity of educational and researching staff, but also motivate the application of new knowledge and methodological directions and outcomes in practice.

The seminar will consist of four sessions that will address methodological approach to controversial issues, manner in which textbooks in Montenegro and region present the events of the 90s, approach to learning and teaching controversial issues (with review of the 90s) and challenges of educational presentation and history teaching of sensitive issues at the places where war crimes were committed.

FIRST DAY: Thursday 1 July 2021

Filip Kuzman: Wars of the 90s in history textbooks in Montenegro and region – analyses and comparison

SECOND DAY: Friday 2 July 2021

Session 3:  10:00-12:00

Rade Vujović Methodological approach to controversial issues with the special review of multiperspectivity and correlation with outcomes

Session 4: 13:00 – 15:00

Vukan Ražnatović: Comparative analysis of the presentation of war crimes in museums in Europe, region and Montenegro“

(lecture and discussion)

Applications, which contain CV and short motivational letter, should be sent via e-mail ivan.s@cgo-cce.org. Deadline for applying is 27 June 2021. 

The application needs to contain number of session that you are applying for (Session 1, Session 2, Session 3, Session 4), and the interested ones can apply for maximum of two sessions.

Participants of the programme will be awarded certificates.
