Tomorrow begins the campaign – SREBRENICA 25: TOGETHER AGAINST THE DENIAL VIRUS

Centre for Civic Education (CCE) informs the public that tomorrow, on Tuesday 7 July 2020, starting at 5 p.m. at the SENSE Transitional Justice Center in Pula, Dante Square 3/1, the multimedia exhibition ‘Srebrenica: Genocide in Eight Acts’ will be opened. The exhibition is based on the same titled interactive narrative http://srebrenica.sensecentar.org/ and it will include a exhibitions of photographs entitled ‘Howls from The Mass Graves’ by photographer Tim Loveless.

The exhibition will be opened by a video statement of the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts (IRMCT), heir to the ICTY, judge Carmela Agius and IRMCT Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, with an online address by Munira Subasic, on behalf of Mother Srebrenica and the president of SENSE Pula, Mirko Klarin. Representatives of the city of Pula, Istria and minority organizations will also participate in the opening program.

Tomorrow’s opening of the exhibition marks the beginning of a major regional campaign called SREBRENICA 25: TOGETHER AGAINST THE DENIAL VIRUS #VirusDeclaration #DenialVirus. commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, led by SENSE with a coalition of more than fifteen civil society organizations from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo.

The campaign will last from 7 to 11 July, the day of the fall of Srebrenica in 1995, and it will take place simultaneously on the Internet – through social media and portals – and at the SENSE center in Pula according to the attached programme. All materials that will be displayed during online campaign and at the SENSE Center in Pula are part of a rich archive of the SENSE, containing about 2,000 reports of ‘Srebrenica trials’ before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), as well as 550 videos dedicated to Srebrenica, which describe in detail how the ICTY investigated, reconstructed and prosecuted the crimes committed in 1995 in Srebrenica.

This is the largest regional campaign of civil society organizations so far, with the aim of preventing the denial of war crimes committed during the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia, with the official hashtag.#VirusPoricanja #DenialVirus.
